Handmade not mass-made
We like making things the slow way. The real way.
At Essentially the Bush, we start with an idea and turn it into something you can actually hold, use, or enjoy. Sometimes that is a set of wooden garden bed blocks, sometimes it is a lamp made from an old piece of PVC pipe, and sometimes it is a gift that celebrates a South African story.
We do not stick to one material or one style. If we can make it with our own hands and it brings a bit of beauty or usefulness into the world, we are interested. In the future you will see us working with glass, resin, wood, fabric and even homemade treats.
Because everything is handmade, no two items will ever be exactly alike. We think that is the best part. Each one is a little unique, a little imperfect and full of character.
We also keep the planet in mind with every choice we make. We reuse materials where we can, source thoughtfully and create things meant to last.
We make things slowly, with care, because that is how you make something worth keeping.
